One of the treasures hidden by the woods in Mas La Carrera is its stone. Most of the area being officially recognized as a quarry, there are seams and large calcareous stone blocks amongst and underneath the oaks and holm oaks. These have been a very important source of material for building in the Vall d'en Bas. Because of that, such stone -with an ochre tonality- can be seen in most of the houses in the old town of Sant Esteve d'en Bas; and obviously in door posts, windowsills, lintels and corners all around the façades in our house.
